Need some fun weekend plans in TO or the 6ix? If the idea of wandering around historic neighborhoods and museums doesn’t appeal, there is an assortment of activities to take part in from fine dining at renowned culinary destinations to exploring the lush landscapes surrounding the city. Here are some of the events that you don’t want to miss:

Whether you’re a vegan or simply intrigued about veganism, it is advised to visit the upcoming Vegandale Festival at Polson Pier & Cabana Poolbar on the Saturday of September 23. This is an international vegan food festival with over 120+ vendors, free samples + 25 interactive art installations, live music, and an incredible view of the Lake and skyline! You can sample delicious vegan food, drink, and sweets as you explore this way of life. Available for purchase online OR at the door!

For the insomniac art lovers among us, Nuit Blanche Toronto takes place Saturday, Sept. 23 — wee hours of the morning, through Sunday, Sept. 24. This overnight celebration of the arts takes over the city with the work of local, national, and international artists alike. This year’s theme is “Breaking Ground,” inviting artists to examine concepts of nature, transformation, and invention. Take your pick from any Etobicoke neighbourhoods through downtown into Scarborough neighbourhoods and explore the free admission to museums and galleries and parks and public spaces.

Apples and History Lovers Should Visit The Applefest Markham At Markham Museum OnSaturday, September 23rd. This showcases the rich apple-growing heritage and culture of Markham annually. You can see fresh apple cider presses in action at a century-old cider mill, taste apple delicacies and sauerkraut, play miniature golf, take a spin on a trackless train, and explore the many new museum exhibits and historic homes. There will be live reenactments from trades and professions of the past, such as printing, woven goods, and smithery.

If you are a fan of visual arts and are interested in exploring new galleries and emerging artists, sign up for the Gallery Weekend Toronto on September 21 to 24. Four days of contemporary art at the 26 galleries around Berlin, with nightly gallery openings. There are shows featuring several artists’ works across several media and styles. And you could go to the artist lectures, gallery/ museum tours, performance art events, and educational workshs.

These are but a few of the incredible things taking place this weekend in Toronto and its neighbours. There are a whole lot more of them, so make sure to visit their websites for more specifics. Whether solo or accompanied by friends/family, you’re guaranteed an unforgettable weekend of art-culture-food-fun.
