Toronto is a city that never runs out of fun and exciting events to attend. Whether you’re into music, food, culture, or art, you’ll find something that suits your taste and mood in Toronto and its surrounding areas. In this blog post, I’ll share with you some of the best weekend events in Toronto that I discovered on my recent trip there.

Panamerican Food & Music Festival

If you love food and music from different countries and regions of the Americas, then you won’t want to miss the Panamerican Food & Music Festival. This festival is Canada’s only annual festival that celebrates the Western Hemisphere’s rich diversity of cuisine, music, and art. The festival features over 40 food vendors, live performances, cooking demonstrations, workshops, and more. You can sample dishes from Mexico, Peru, Colombia, Brazil, Argentina, and many other countries. You can also enjoy music from genres like salsa, cumbia, reggae, samba, and more. The festival is free and open to the public.

 

Vibrant Brampton Festival

If you’re looking for a cultural extravaganza, then you should check out the Vibrant Brampton Festival. This festival is one of the largest South Asian arts and culture festivals in Canada. The festival showcases the best of South Asian talent in music, dance, comedy, fashion, and art. You can watch performances by artists like Shafqat Amanat Ali, Jazzy B, Harshdeep Kaur, and many others. You can also participate in workshops, exhibitions, and interactive activities. The festival is free and open to the public.

 

Junior Carnival

If you want to experience the Caribbean spirit and energy, then you should join the Junior Carnival. This carnival is a family-friendly event that features a parade of young masqueraders in colourful costumes, dancing to the rhythms of calypso, soca, reggae, and steel pan. The carnival also includes a stage show with live entertainment, a kids’ zone with games and rides, and a food fair with delicious Caribbean cuisine. The carnival is free and open to the public.

 

Annual Toronto International BrazilFest

If you’re looking for a taste of Brazil in Toronto, then you should visit the Annual Toronto International BrazilFest. This festival is Canada’s largest Brazilian cultural event that celebrates the diversity and beauty of Brazilian culture. The festival features live music by bands like Batucada Carioca, Samba Squad, Maracatu Mar Aberto, and many others. You can also enjoy dance performances by groups like Axe Capoeira Toronto, Samba Jessy Dance Company, Brazilian Dance Soul, and many others. You can also savour Brazilian food like feijoada, coxinha, brigadeiro, and more. The festival is free and open to the public.

 

YOUTH DAY 2023

If you’re looking for a showcase of young talent and creativity, then you should attend the YOUTH DAY 2023. This event is a celebration of youth arts and culture that features over 100 performers from various genres and disciplines. You can watch singers, dancers, musicians, poets, comedians, magicians, and more. You can also explore the art gallery with over 50 exhibitors displaying their original artworks. You can also join the workshops and activities that teach skills like photography, graffiti art, DJing, and more. The event is free and open to the public.
